RADIO SHOW!!
In a time before Film and Television, Radio was a source of news and entertainment and one of the first mass media to begin to blur the line between the two. On Saturday, May 26th the Fuzzystar Organization showcases a few of our favorites from the golden age of radio, including excerpts from Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre on The Air, The Adventures of Nero Wolfe, Our Ms. Brooks and more. These Radio Shows will be featured in both their original crackly audio and re-interpreted by modern actors in a live staged reading! Radio Show!! will also feature film clips from the period, ambient visuals and other projected media throughout the night to compliment the live and recorded performances.
A reception and party to follow featuring VJ and DJ team Gil and Dan Raitses.
As always we'll have Beer and Munchies for sale and FREE POPCORN!!

The Last (Fuzzy) Starfighter
Reedit by The Fuzzystar Organization, 2012, 60 min.
The Last Starfighter is one of the first films to use extensive computer-generated imagery (CGI). Although these graphics look cheesy now, the nearly 300 scenes containing computer graphics in the film which depict its many starships, environments and battle scenes were considered a great leap into the future compared to contemporary films such as 1983's Return of the Jedi, which still used static physical models shot by moving film cameras.
This reedit cuts out the soppy sub-plots and gets right into the thick of the CGI driven Starfighter scenes. Featuring new original scenes from the Fuzzystar crew, music videos, live action, and free popcorn!
Post-Screening party till midnight featuring Harlem's own DJ Danny Switchblade

Imitation of Christ

IMITATION OF CHRIST
Curated by the Fuzzystar Organization
Every year on Good Friday in the Philippines a festival takes place called Penitencia. This festival's roots are deeply interwoven with the colonial legacy of the Philippines, a Spanish colony founded during the Spanish inquisition.
Penitencia attracts international audiences because it is one of the only places in the catholic world where self-flagellation, floggings and Crucifixions are still practiced in an attempt to commiserate with Christ's suffering on the cross.
but what might be the real motivations of these self-flagellating penitents?is there a secular equivalent to this idea of spiritual ecstasy through physical pain?
On Saturday, April 28th, The Fuzzystar Organization aims to investigate these questions. With the help of renown Icelandic sociologist Agust Kjartansson and infamous New York City Dom, Mistress Vera.
We invite you to take part in this real life experiment, hosted by Dr. Kjartansson, to investigate the line between submission and salvation. Bring an Open mind and be ready to question your preconceptions.
This show is strictly 21 +
It will feature real documentary footage from the Penitencia festival which include flogging and Crucifixion. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED
For this show The Fuzzystar Organization is proud to feature: Alexander Harvey and Pamela Wess
Party to follow Dr. Agust Kjartansson's lecture featuring the NYC DJ + VJ Duo of Gil and Dan Raitses!
